I’m a member of the St. Peter’s Church (Philadelphia) Pastoral Care Team. Our Rector, The Rev. Laurie Wurm, reinvigorated the church’s prayer life and concept of “pastoral care” soon after she arrived at our parish in Summer 2025.
Starting in Spring 2026, I have been contributing articles to our Spire newsletter about the ministry of the Pastoral Care Team — especially focused on our offering of prayer and anointing at the Altar during Holy Communion. For this section of my blog, I have generalized those articles so that they are applicable beyond one parish and its specific practice.
